Selara is a prayer journal app developed by Kai Digital Studio. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
We use your information solely to provide the Selara app experience — storing your journal entries, enabling prayer circles with people you invite, and sending prayer reminders you request. We do not sell, share, or use your data for advertising.
Personal prayer journal: Your private prayer content — including prayer text, journal reflections, answered prayer notes, and the names of people you pray for — is encrypted using AES-256 with a key derived from your password before it is stored. To support account recovery after a password reset, a copy of your encryption key is also wrapped with a server-side recovery key held by Kai Digital Studio and stored in our database. This means we have the technical capability to decrypt your personal prayer content, though we do not access or read it. If you reset your password, your encrypted content will be restored using this recovery copy.
Prayer circles: Content shared in Prayer Circles is also encrypted at rest using AES-256 before being stored. Circle prayers are readable by all members of the circle — that is the intended design. Because circle content uses a shared app-level key rather than a key derived from your personal password, it does not carry the same "zero knowledge" guarantee as your private journal.
Selara uses the following third-party services:
Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You may delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app.
Selara is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
